Thomas Clayton

Thomas Lee Clayton, 86, of 1850 Rudd Ridge Rd. passed away Sunday September 4, 2011 at the V.A. Hospital in Durham. He was the husband of Claudia Simmons Clayton and was born January 17, 1925 in Caswell County to the late Wiley Van and Lessie Rudd Clayton. Thomas served in the US Army during WW II and retired from Fairystone Fabrics. He was a member and elder of The Semora Congregation of The Kingdom Hall of Jehovahs Witnesses. He enjoyed farming and spending time with his family. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend to the many people who knew and loved him. Survivors include his wife of the home, daughters; Becky Claudio Aragon of Ruffin, NC, Debbie Philip Coppersmith of Yanceyville, sons; Barry Mary Clayton of Burlington, Rickey Dianne Clayton of Norfolk, VA, Sammy Bobbie Clayton of Graham, Michael Pami Clayton of Piedmont, SC, ten grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and one great great grandchild, sisters; Lena Richard Byrd of Yadkinville, NC, Catherine Hamlett of Yanceyville, Mamie Hinkle of Graham, NC, Arlene Massey of Burlington, Alma McKinney of Burlington, Shirley Andrew Wilkins of Yanceyville. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters; Lizzie Truitt, Doris Travis, brothers; Wilbur Clayton and James Clayton. A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM Saturday September 10, 2011 at the Semora Congregation of The Kingdom Hall of Jehovahs Witnesses in Yanceyville. The family will receive friends following the service and at other times at the home.
