Theresa Saunders

Theresa Simons Saunders, 79, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at her home surrounded by her family. A native of Harlem, NY, she was born October 29, 1938 to the late Joseph Simons and Ruth Elizabeth Ramsey Simons and was the wife of the late Roland Saunders.

Theresa was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Richmond, VA. She enjoyed traveling, dancing and always knew how to have a good time. She would light up a room with her presence and was like a mother to everyone. Theresa enjoyed spending time with her family and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her son, Darryl Craig Simons; daughters, Roxanne Simons Stafford and husband Bernard, Jacqueline Simons Heyward and husband Jeff, Theresa "Teri" Saunders Briggs; grandchildren, Jeffrey Heyward, Jhasilyn Heyward, Darryl Nicholas Simons, Chyna Saunders, Brookelynn Briggs, Parris Briggs, Erica Griffis, and Capricia Brinson and her great grandchildren, Ke'Niyah Griffis and Ayeden Briggs. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and a sister, Barbara Simons.

A service to celebrate her life will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, May 5, 2018 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Dr. Robert Muhammad with a repass to follow at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Church, 712 S. Williamson Ave., Elon, NC. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm on Friday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at Theresa's home in Burlington.
