Mrs. Thelma Wall Smith, 91, formerly of Ambling Rd. a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday November 2, 2008 at Twin Lakes Healthcare in Burlington. The funeral will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Dr. Jack Lemons and Rev. Nila Souther. Burial will follow in Alamance Memorial Park. Mrs. Smith was a faithful member of the McLeansville Baptist Church for over 55 years until her health declined and she could no longer attend. She was a member of the Senior Sunday School Class and the Happy Hearts. Mrs. Smith was born August 14, 1917 in Surry County to the late Sam and Annie Wall and was married to the late Robert Glenn Smith, Sr. for almost 56 years. She retired from Greensboro Loom and Reed Co. and later worked at the McLeansville School cafeteria for many years. She is survived by daughters; Rachel Duggins and her husband Ted of McLeansville, Patsy S. Carter and her husband Fred of McLeansville, sons; Robert "Bobby" Glenn Smith, Jr. of Brown Summit, Russell L. Smith and his wife Pat of McLeansville, Lonnie "Chuck" S. Smith and his wife Beverly of McLeansville, sisters; Aileen Reese of Gibsonville, Shirley Water and her husband Al of Greensboro, brothers; Roy Wall and his wife Dorothy of McLeansville, Lonnie Wall and his wife Nathlyn of Whitsett, Bruce Wall and his wife Joanne of McLeansville. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, a granddaughter Kathy Smith, a brother Wilber Wall and a daughter-in-law Karen Smith. The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Tuesday at Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory and at other times at Rachel Duggins home, 405 Ambling Rd., McLeansville. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to McLeansville Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 191, McLeansville, NC 27301. Our family would like to extend our sincere appreciation to Dr. James Hedrick, Nurse Gale, Susan Woodard and the nursing staff who loved and took very good care of our dear sweet mother for over six years. We love you.
