Teddy "Ted" Lee Duggins passed away on September 15, 2023 at the age of 85. Born on August 29, 1938, in Guilford County, Ted lived a remarkable life filled with love, laughter, and compassion.
Ted dedicated over four decades of his life to Guilford Mills, where he worked as an Inventory Control Supervisor before retiring. His commitment and loyalty were unmatched, making him an invaluable asset to the company. Ted's exceptional work ethic and attention to detail were admired by his colleagues and friends alike. Beyond his professional achievements, Ted was a kind-hearted and generous soul who possessed a remarkable ability to creatively fix anything that came his way. He brought joy to those around him through his engaging personality and zest for life. One of his greatest joys was spending time visiting with his church friends, sharing stories and laughter that would brighten everyone's day.
In addition to his career and community involvement, Ted proudly served in the National Guard. This was a testament to his unwavering dedication to his country and fellow citizens.
Outside of work and military service, Ted found solace in pursuing various hobbies and interests. He had a passion for playing golf and was a member of both the Cedar Crest Men's Golf Association and the Alamance Senior Men's Golf Association. The pinnacle of Ted's golfing journey came when he achieved the elusive feat of shooting a hole in one at Cedar Crest Golf Course—a moment that undoubtedly filled him with immense pride. He could also often be found admiring classic cars or engaging in conversations about their unique features with fellow enthusiasts. Ted's gentle nature extended beyond humans; he treasured the companionship of his beloved dog Mattie. Every day, without fail, he would take Mattie for a ride on the golf cart to visit their neighbors. It was a heartwarming sight that brought joy to all who witnessed their bond.
Ted was preceded in death by his parents, Sidney and Irene Duggins. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Rachel Smith Duggins, who stood by his side through thick and thin, providing unwavering support and love throughout their journey together. He also leaves behind his brothers, Roger Duggins and wife Georgia, and Michael Duggins; numerous nieces and nephews; brothers-in-law, Chuck Smith (Beverly), Bobby Smith, Russell Smith (Pat); and sister-in-law Patsy Carter (Fred).
