Ms. Sylvia Stephens Davis, age 79, of Burlington, passed away on Thursday, October 15, 2015 at Twin Lakes Health Care Center after several years of failing health. Born in Lee County, NC, she was the daughter of the late John Robert Stephens and the late Alice Smith Stephens. She was employed with Southern Bell for over 36 years before retiring in 1994. She then went to work with her son at Joel Davis Insurance for another 15 years. Sylvia was a member of the Pioneers for Women and Harvest Baptist Church. Ms. Davis is survived by her three children, Joel Davis and his wife, Tonya, Lisa Ford and her husband, Tommy, and Tracy Cates and her husband, Scott, all of Burlington; eight grandchildren, Page Shane Brown, Dustin Melia Ford, Lauren Jimmy Cook, Ashley Davis, Brian Ford, Jordan Davis, Carly Cates and Mackenzie Cates; five great grandchildren, Connor Brown, Eli Davis, Addyson Brown, William Cook and Tyler Wheeley; and two sisters, Anne Garner and Johnnie Stephens, both of Graham. She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Heath Davis; a niece, Kimberly Evans; and her brother-in-law, Bobby Garner. The funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 PM Saturday, October 17, 2015 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Larry Lamberth and Rev. John Evans. Interment will follow at Phillips Chapel Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:30 11:45 Saturday morning prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at the home of her daughter, Lisa, at 2812 Wagner Dr., Burlington. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Twin Lakes Health Care for the loving and dedicated care given to Ms. Davis during her stay.
