Swannie Farmer Brown, 78, slipped away peacefully to be with her Lord on November 23, 2012 at the Hospice Home of Alamance-Caswell. She was the wife of the late James Alton Brown for fifty-four years and was born January 7, 1934 in Guilford County to the late James and Cora Farmer of Julian. Swannie loved people and lived out her faith to the fullest. She demonstrated unselfish acts of kindness throughout her life and was an inspiration to all. As friends and family know, there was only one Swannie Brown. Survivors include her daughters, Susan Brown Skrabo of Charlotte, Gina Brown Pickett of Durham; sons Todd Brown and his wife, Cathy, of Greensboro and Jonathan Brown of Greensboro; five grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two sisters and three brothers. The funeral will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, November 25, 2012 at Mt. Hope United Church of Christ by Rev. Lloyd Spencer and Rev. Kristen Vaughn. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4-6 PM Saturday at Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory.
