Susan Schlegel

Whitsett-Susan Basden Schlegel, 65, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 22, 2016. She was a native of Durham County and the daughter of the late Hiram Cabot Basden and Maggie Mae Cowan Basden.
Susan enjoyed working with people and she retired after many years in retail sales. She was a member of The First Baptist Church of Whitsett.
Survivors include her daughter, Emily Michelle Schlegel of the home; granddaughter, Makayla Smith; sister, Marcine Basden of Burlington and a brother, Michael D. Basden of Florida; numerous nieces and nephews and her pets.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Wendy Taylor and Donna Myers and a brother, Billy Basden.
A service to celebrate her life will be held on Thursday, May 26, 2016 at 2:00 pm at First Baptist Church of Whitsett by Pastor Tim Stevens. The family will receive friends following the service.
