Susan Ratliff

Susan Simpson Ratliff was born April 7, 1964 and passed away peacefully Saturday, January 18, 2020 at the Hospice Home after a lengthy illness with her family by her side.  A native of Alamance County, she was the daughter of Haywood G. Simpson, Jr. (Nancy) and Elizabeth W. Shook (deceased (Charles).

She graduated from WHS in 1982 and was presented at the Raleigh Terpsichorean Debutante Ball in 1983.  She graduated from Elon College where she was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority.  For most of her career she worked in the automobile insurance industry.  She was a lifelong member of Front St. United Methodist Church and a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy.

Susan loved her boys, animals, fine things and her jewelry.  She enjoyed the beach, writing and telling stories to make people laugh.

She is survived by her two sons, Dillon DuBois of Dunwoody, GA, Hamilton DuBois of Raleigh; a sister, Elizabeth Morgan (Chris); a brother, Stephen Simpson both of Burlington; brother Haywood Simpson III; step-sisters, Lorimer Thornton (Tom) of Concord, NC, Christie Janicello (Steve) of Burlington and a nephew Jack Simpson of Burlington.

The celebration of her life will be held 4:00 Tuesday at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Ross Carter. The family will receive friends following the service.

The family thanks all of those who took care of and time to be with Susan.
