Burlington, NC Susan Piper Bennett, age 56, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 3, 2013. She was a native of Alamance County and the wife of Steve Bennett who survives. Susan was employed with Lab Corp and also worked for several years at the Blue Ribbon Diner in Burlington. She was a member of The River Fellowship. Susan enjoyed collecting antiques and she was a gifted interior decorator. She also enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. Susan was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by her husband, Steve Bennett of the home; daughters, Chrissy Coble and husband, Rodney of Burlington, Tracey Smith and husband, Brian of Mooresville and Lea Williams and husband, Bishop of Arapahoe; son, Taylor Bennett and wife, Jennifer of Cullowhee; grandchildren, Taylor Coble, Hannah Coble, Jacob Smith, Nicholas Smith, Noah Coble, Kaitlyn Smith and Caleb Coble; parents, Clarence Ellis and Mary Johnson Piper of Burlington and a close family friend, Jack Hardy of Graham. The Bennett family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Hospice of Alamance-Caswell for their kind and compassionate care for Susan during her illness. A service to celebrate her life will be held on Sunday, October 6, 2013 at 2:00 pm at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Todd Martin and the burial will follow at Historic Providence Christian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Saturday at the funeral home and other times at the home. Memorials may be made to A Heart's Cry, P O Box 903, Graham, NC 27253.
