Sue Barkley Dellinger

Sue worked as a Registered Nurse at Charlotte Memorial Hospital before moving to Burlington in 1971, the same year she and Jerry were married.  She taught at the nursing school at ACC as a Clinical Nursing Instructor and was a member of the Burlington Women’s Club.  In her free time, she enjoyed gardening, baking and spending time with her family.  Her daughter and grandchildren meant the world to her.

She is survived by her husband, Jerry Wayne Dellinger; daughter, Paula Strange and her husband Ross; grandchildren, Matthew Strange and wife Jennifer, and Suzanne Brackins and husband Joshua; great grandchildren, Emilie “Emmie” Strange, Isabella “Izzy” Brackins and Lennox “Knox” Brackins; siblings, Betty B. Mitchell, and Donald Barkley and his wife Frankie; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Archie and Sue Barkley and a beloved niece, Donna Howard. 

A service to celebrate Sue’s life will be held at 2 PM on Friday, March 24, 2023 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Rev. Powell Sykes. Visitation and viewing will be held immediately following the service. The graveside service will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, March 25, 2023 at Cleveland Memorial Park in Shelby, NC.
