James Steven "Steve" Wall, 73, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 15, 2022 at the Hospice Home after several months of failing health. A native of Alamance County, he was born September 3, 1948 to the late John Willie and Violet Childers Wall and was the husband of 30 years to Jo Ann Holt Wall of the home.
Steve was a US Army Sgt E5 serving during the Vietnam War. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 2 Bronze Service Stars, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal and Expert (Rifle).
Steve was of the Baptist faith. He retired from RH Barringer after 33 years of service and enjoyed trips to the beach, camping in his RV and fishing. He was an avid UNC Tarheels and Carolina Panthers fan.
He leaves behind his wife, Jo Ann; daughter, Sheri Haisten; stepson, Shane Woodall (Janet); sisters, Kay Wall Gee (Bill) and Renee Humphries (David); granddaughters, Katelyn Woodall Varnadore (Adam) and Sarah Woodall; great grandchildren, Adley Jane Varnadore and Bentley Varnadore and his two puppies, “Willie” and “Daisy Mae”.
A graveside service to celebrate Steve’s life will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at Gibsonville City Cemetery by Pastor Mark Blackburn. The family will receive friends from 5-7pm on Monday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to AuthoraCare Collective (Hospice), 914 Chapel Hill Rd., Burlington, NC 27215.
