Steven Carden, Sr.

Mr. Steven Douglas Carden, Sr., age 71, of Elon, passed away on Thursday, February 20, 2020 at Alamance Health Care after several months of failing health.

A native of Alamance County, he was the son of the late Garfield William Carden, Sr. and the late Sophie Bell Carden and was married for over 46 years to Mrs. Janet Lawson Carden, who survives.  Steven retired from Carpenter Company in High Point with more than 40 years of service.  He was a loving father and grandfather.

Mr. Carden is survived by his wife of the home; two children, Steven D. Carden, Jr. and his wife, Linda, of Burlington and a daughter, Tammy Sue Bunn of Burlington; four grandchildren, Eric Michael Mitchell, Jordan Lee Carden, Taylor Nicole Smith and Brianna Kay Lynn; three great grandchildren, Kaylynn Faye Mitchell, Weston Michael Wilson and Emma Nicole Bridgett; a sister, Pat Lineberry and husband, Bud, of Burlington; and a brother, Garfield Carden, Jr. and wife, Margaret, of Burlington.  He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Kimberly Dawn Carden.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, February 26, 2020 at Alamance Memorial Park by Rev. Stephen Hall.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 1:45 PM Wednesday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory prior to the service.
