Stephen is preceded in his death by his parents, Marcella and Kenneth Fisher and his brother James Fisher.
Stephen attended high school at Tappan Zee in Orangeburg, NY. Stephen studied physics at Rockland Community College and graduated in 1979. He then went on to pursue a degree in electrical engineering from NJIT in 1983. In 1987, Stephen added another degree to his collection in Computer Information Systems from Mercy College. He went on to work for a variety of companies over the years as a Systems Engineer, spending most of his time with Coopers & Lybrand and AdvanTec Information Systems.
Stephen had an affinity for technology inspired by his father’s career as an engineer at AT&T. After acquiring his GED, Stephen joined the ranks of the US Air Force serving four years with a focus on ground radio maintenance.
While Stephen made a career in technology, he was a skilled amateur photographer as well. He took breathtaking images from floral photography to the NYC skyline and World Trade Center. This passion was a great source of pride for Stephen to share with his family. He gave lessons to nieces and nephews on the technical aspects of the cameras, sharing his talents while spurring their interest in the medium as well.
He was also an accomplished horticulturist and was an incredible uncle, often going above and beyond in his kindness and generosity to his many nieces and nephews.
Tremendous thanks go to the medical staff at Cone Health Alamance Regional Medical Center for the care provided to Stephen in his final moments.
Unfortunately, due to the current circumstances, there will be no public memorial service. However, in Stephen’s memory, we ask that you consider making a donation to the National Kidney Foundation, American Diabetes Association, or the Wounded Warrior Project.
