Stephen Lee Stearns, Sr.

Burlington, NC - Stephen Lee Stearns, Sr.,70, passed away Sunday morning February 6th, 2022 at Alamance Regional Medical Center.

He was born August 16, 1951 to Carroll and Norma Stearns, Jr. both deceased.

Stephen served as Vice President at Stearns Ford in Burlington, NC working for the family business where he was part owner.

He had a huge, humble heart and always put others ahead of himself. He was a critic of the ego and a lover of mankind.

He served as a hall of fame member of the Burlington Shag Club where he helped to raise money for Christmas Cheer and the Special Olympics. Stephen enjoyed being a part of something bigger than himself and having a good time for a good cause.

He loved the game of golf and managed to get a hole in one 4 times during his career. He loved playing with family and friends and always showed them that they were his number one priority. He spoiled every one he could including his micro poodle, "Duke."

Survivors include his wife, Nita Wilson; son Stephen Stearns, Jr. and his wife Emily; grandchildren, Garrison Stearns, Sophie Stearns and August Stearns; and brothers, Carroll Stearns, III and Dale Stearns.

Stephen was preceded in death by his parents Carroll and Norma Stearns and his brother Jeffrey Stearns.

A service to celebrate Stephen’s life will be held at 3:00pm on Thursday, February 10, 2022 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Randy Wellford with the burial to follow at Pine Hill Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 1:45-2:45 prior to the service at the funeral home.
