S.T. Evans

S. T. Wesley Evans, age 75, of Hwy 87 went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 12, 2006 at his home. He was a native of Randolph County and the husband of Clara Lee K. Evans of 54 years who survives. S.T. retired from A. T. & T. after 36 years. He was a veteran of the US Army serving in the Korean War. S. T. Served for many years as the VFW Commander for Post # 11175 of Elon where he was a member and later was the Commander of the Burlington VFW Post # 10607. He was a member of Fairview United Methodist Church where he served as a Sunday School Teacher and as Chairman for the Administrative Council for the church. S. T. was also a member of the United Methodist Men and he sang in the church choir until his health declined in recent years. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. Survivors include his wife, Clara Lee Kivett Evans of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Steven Taylor and Linda Evans of Albemarle and son, Tony Darryl Evans of Burlington; grandson, Tommy Fetzer and his wife Donna and their children Natalie and Ryan all of Greensboro; sisters and brother-in-law, Cora Porter of Gibsonville, Rebecca Lewis and her husband, Earl of Graham; brother, J. V. Evans of Elon. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mascus Mac William and Flora Corder Evans; sister, Mae Williams and Oma May; brother, Clyde W. Evans. The funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 15, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at the Fairview United Methodist Church by Rev. Jared Hanson. The burial will follow with military honors provided by the 82nd Airborne Division at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Friday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the residence.
