SMSGT Rowland Edward Lee, Sr. Burlington-SMSGT Rowland Edward Lee, Sr. age 76 passed away on Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at the Hospice Home surrounded by his family. He was a native of Sampson County and the husband of 44 years to Carolyn Crumpler Lee who survives. Rowland retired as a Senior Master Sergeant with the US Air Force after 20 years. He was with the 557 Red Horse Squadron serving 3 tours of duty in Vietnam where he was awarded the Bronze Star. He later retired after 20 years from Orange County as a Computer System's Analyst. He enjoyed taking trips and fishing with his family. He was a loving and devoted husband and father who was affectionately called "Paw-Paw" by his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Carolyn C. Lee of the home; daughters, Ronda "Lisa" Simpson Clark of Burlington, Carla Ann Jones and husband, Starr of Snow Camp and Janeen Robinson of Arkansas; loving son-in-law, Randy Clark of Snow Camp, NC; grandchildren, Shannon "Nichole" Potts, Megan Simmons, Jonathan Clark. Ashley Clark, Aaron Jones and Chloe Jones; twelve great grandchildren; sisters, Dorlis Lee of Burlington, Mary L. May of Glen Raven and Sylvia Faye Lee of Burlington; brothers, James Henry Lee of Burlington and John Wayne Lee of Pennsylvania. He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther R. Lee and Ollie Naylor Lee and a son, Rowland Edward Lee, Jr.; sisters, Exie Marie Lee, Sarah Francis Lee and Pearl Lee; brothers, Luther McKinney Lee and Joe Curtis Lee. There will be a private service on Monday, March 2, 2015 by Pastor Steven Potts with Military honors provided by the US Air Force. Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215.
