Sidney George, Sr.

Sidney Madison "S.M." George, Sr., age 74, of Kimesville, passed away Thursday, October 2, 2014 at his home. He was born in Randolph County on August 20, 1940 to the late John Quincy Foy George and the late Julia Irene Culler George and was married for over 51 years to Mary Louise Cox George, who survives. "S.M." retired from Glen Raven Mills after 32 years of service and attended Landmark Baptist Church. Mr. George is survived by his wife of the home; his son, Sidney Madison George, Jr. of Kimesville; his daughter, Lisa Dawn George Martinez and her husband, Robert, of Hope Mills, NC; a grandson, Logan George Martinez; and a sister, Brenda Barley of Greensboro. He is preceded in death by his parents and four sisters, Shirley Fay Smith, Deana Capps, Neva Kay Stewart and Novella Nixon. A service to celebrate his life will be conducted at 2:00 PM Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Richard Silver. The family will receive friends from 12:30 1:45 prior to the service and other times at the residence. Mr. George's family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Kernodle Clinic for their kindness, patience and excellent care given to "S.M." over the past few years.
