Burlington- Shirley Smith "Nannie" Williams, 81, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 23, 2016 at Presbyterian Home of Hawfields. She was born in Alamance County on August 17, 1935 to the late George Calvin and Inez Coleman Smith and was the wife of 56 years to the late William "W.L." Lawson Williams who died on January 28, 2015.
Shirley was a lifetime member of Landmark Baptist Church. She enjoyed cooking, baking and most of all, spending time with her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her daughter, Leanne Toney of Burlington; sons, Timothy Dale Williams and Terry Robin Williams, both of Burlington; grandchildren, Rae-Lynn Reinbolt, Shawn Adam Williams, Sr., Jennifer Williams Phillips, Jessie Wayne Barnes, Laura Marie Barnes, Jason Curtis Ayers and wife Ashley, Tiffany Danielle Burns and husband Jay and Cassidy Williams; Thirteen great grandchildren; brother, James "J.C" Smith and wife Ann; daughter-in-law, Carolyn Barnes; special nieces, Angela Laxton and husband Gary and Amy Handy and husband Donald and special nephews, Bennie Clifford Williams and wife Lisa, Sammy Williams and wife Romona, Andy Williams and wife Donna, Jamie Smith, Tony Smith and aunt, Thelma Merritt. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents; a son, Raymond Curtis Barnes; brother, Calvin Lee Smith; sister-in-law, Beatrice Janey and niece, Tonya Smith.
A service to celebrate her life will be held 11:00am on Thursday, October 27, 2016 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Mark Wilson and Rev. Larry Janey. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm on Wednesday at Lowe Funeral Home and other times at the home.
