Shirley Wheeley

Elon, NC Shirley Baize Wheeley, age 68, of 1024 Elon Ossipee Road went home to be with the Lord on Monday, January 7, 2008 at Alamance Regional Medical Center surrounded by her family. She was a native of Alamance County and the wife of 51 years to Thomas Tommy Chandlas Wheeley who survives. Shirley was a homemaker and former employee of Stadlers Ham. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church and a member of the Ladies Missionary Sunday School Class. Survivors include her husband of the home; daughter, Teresa Diane Wheeley Sykes of Elon; sons and daughter-in-law, Thomas Dale Wheeley of Elon, Timothy Lynn Wheeley and his wife, Bonnie of Elon; grandchildren, Heather Harris, Brian Wheeley, Jessica Wheeley, Corey Wheeley, Travis and Hannah Wheeley; step grandchildren, Scott Wade, Michael and Chris Wade; sisters and brother-in-law, Faye Shoe and her husband, J.W. Jr. of Burlington, Priscilla Crumpton of Burlington; brothers and sister-in-law, Jimmy H. Baize of Burlington, Charles Edward Baize of Burlington, Jackie Lee Baize and his wife, Robbie of Wilmington; special niece, Sharon McDonald of Altamahaw. She was preceded in death by her parents, Olga Marvin and Lillian Estelle Rippy Baize; brothers, Willis Newton Baize, Bobby Lee Baize, Billy Ray Baize and Odie Leo Baize; brother-in-law, James Gary Crumpton, Sr. and a nephew, James Gregory Crumpton. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 10, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the New Hope Baptist Church by Pastor Randy Hobbs and the burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Wednesday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the residence. The family of Shirley Wheeley would like to thank her family and friends for all their love and support during her recent illness.
