Shirley Tucker

Shirley Ann Carter Tucker, 87, was called to be with her Lord on August 17, 2018. She passed peacefully at the Hospice Home surrounded by her loving family after several months of her courageous fight against cancer. Born in Wise County, Virginia on February 7, 1931 to Owen Franklin Carter and Anna Grace Carter Bokos, she was one of three children. She retired from Belk Inc. as an Area Sales Manager. Shirley was a faithful member of Grove Park Baptist Church where she served her Lord faithfully in many ways. She had a great love for her Church family. She ministered and supported everyone with her love and faithfulness.
She is survived by her three daughters, Carolyn Taum (Ramsay), Cheryl Baldwin (Garry), Julie Turney (Gerald); grandchildren, Remington Kawood (Matthew), Jeremiah Baldwin (Meghan), Anna Grace Baldwin, Caleb Baldwin (Caitlin), Brook Hambright (Matthew), Jonathan Ledford (Kelsee), Catherine Delany (Matthew), Chris Turney, David Turney, Scott Williams (Holly), and Dana Mix; great-grandchildren, Jacob, Rose, Juliette and Titus Hambright, Sam, Jonathan and Thomas Williams; Lavinia, Cordelia Delaney, Ransom and Haven Baldwin, brother Billy Carter (Wanda), sister-in-laws Jennie Tucker and Jo Ann Cox, brother-in-law, Marvin Tucker (Ursala); and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Paul Wentz Tucker, and one brother Jimmy Carter.
A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at Grove Park Baptist Church by Dr. Garry Baldwin with the burial to follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the church from 10 a.m. until 11:15 a.m.
