Shirley Skenes

Mrs. Shirley Mae Williams Skenes, 68, of 2320 Burch Bridge Rd. died Wednesday, July 5, 2006 at the Hospice Home after several months of failing health. A native of Stuart, VA, she was the daughter of the late Nurney Loften Williams and the late Florence Lee Williams and was married to the late Charles Richard Skenes, who died in 1994. She was retired from Engineered Controls International, where she greatly enjoyed the fellowship of her co-workers. She was also an active member of Cornerstone Baptist Church. Shirley was free spirited and full of life and loved to spend time with her family and friends. Mrs. Skenes is survived by three daughters, Diane Moss and her husband, Larry, of Burlington, Teresa Brownlow and her husband, Randy, of Greensboro, and Pam Anderson and her husband, Jeff, of Elon; five grandchildren, Matthew Moss, Lauren Brownlow, Ben Brownlow, Jennifer Maxwell, and Chad Anderson; three great grandchildren, Caleb Maxwell, Logan Maxwell, and Mason Anderson; two sisters, Patricia Ann Johnson of Burlington and Marie Hyler of Seattle, WA; and one brother, Bernard Gray Williams of Graham. The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Saturday, July 8, 2006 at Conerstone Baptist Church by the Rev. Bill Skenes and the Rev. Tommy Marley. Interment will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7-9 Friday evening at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home of her daughter, Pam Anderson, 3181 Saw Mill Dr., Elon.
