Shirley Ann McClain Sides

     Shirley Ann McClain Sides, age 84, passed away on Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at Alamance Regional Medical Center following several months of failing health. 

     A native of Alamance County she was the daughter of the late Howard McClain and the late Mildred Freeman McClain and was married for 62 years to the late Pat Delacy Sides, who passed in 2019.

Shirley was a career homemaker and a member of New Testament Baptist Church. She enjoyed bowling with her late husband, crocheting and completing puzzles, but her true joy was found in spending time with her grandchildren.  Shirley was a fan of Elvis Presley and her favorite NASCAR driver, Mark Martin.

     Mrs. Sides is survived by her five children, Rickey Sides, Patricia “Patsy” Albright (John), Sharon Tucker (Michael), Cathy Cook and Jennifer Turner (Chris); fifteen grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren; a brother, Bobby McClain; and numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family.  She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; two daughters, Cindy Sutton and Denise Upchurch; a granddaughter, Kamryn Turner; a brother, Donald McClain; and a sister, Marjorie Neill.

     A service to celebrate her life will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, September 2, 2023 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Ken Jackson.  Interment will at follow at Alamance Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 on Friday at the funeral home and other times at the residence.
