Shirley Shields

Shirley Rollins Shields, loving wife, mother, Mamaw, and great-Mamaw, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 17, 2021 at her home. She was born in Alamance County on November 25, 1935 to the late James Carson Rollins and Ila Mae Atwater, and was the wife of 63 years to the late Jerry Ladson Shields.

Shirley was a member Peoples Memorial Christian Church. She retired from The Tax Factory in Graham. She was also a member of Order of the Eastern Star Battle of Alamance #256, member of the American Business Women, past president of the Alamance County Mobile Home Association, member of the Alamance County Loan Association, and a member of the Burlington Shrinettes.

Survivors include her son, Timothy D. Shields and wife Gina of Burlington; grandchildren, Lisa Parham and husband Alex of Gibsonville, Scott Shields and wife Aiyana of Mebane, and Katie Shields of Burlington; great-grandson, Hudson Parham, great-granddaughter, Kai Shields, and two more great-grandchildren on the way; along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, daughter, Tamara Dee Shields, and sisters, Mildred R. Craddock, Nadine R. Wilson, and Frances C. Wilson.

The family would like to express sincere thanks to her longtime caregiver and dear friend, Mary Beasley, as well as AuthoraCare Collective for all their care and compassion provided to her.

Her Life Remembrance Service will be conducted at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, February 20, 2021 at 11:00 am by Reverend John Shields and Pastor Shannon Wolfe with interment to follow at Alamance Memorial Park. Public viewing will be available from 8:00-10:45 am Saturday prior to the service.
