Burgaw Shirley Ann Jones Parker, 78, passed away on Friday, May 17, 2013 at the Hospice Home. She was born in Springfield, MA to the late Charles Alford and Loretta Aubin Jones and the wife of 63 years to James "Jim" Parker, Jr., who survives. She was a member of Friendship Community Baptist Church in Burgaw and a former member of Faith United Methodist Church in Burlington. Mrs. Parker was a former employee of Dee's Drug Store in Burgaw and a homemaker. She was a caring and loving mom and grandmother to everyone, who never complained, was happy with life and never met a stranger. She is survived by her husband of the home; sons, James A. Parker and wife Rhonda of Burlington and Wayne L. Parker of the home; daughters, Loretta Edwards and husband Scott of Graham, Deborah Dyer of Snow Camp and Charlotte Cole and husband Michael of Haw River; grandchildren, John Swaim, Joshua Hall, Anthony Hall, Alex Brown, Jordan Parker, Blake Driggers, Dustin Driggers, Christopher Palmer, Daniel Palmer, Drew Palmer, Michael Cole, Jr., Catherine Cole and James Parker; 11 great grandchildren; 6 step great grandchildren; brother, Charles Jones of New York. She was preceded in death by her parents and grandson, James Lynn "Jay" Parker. The funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Rick Webster with interment to follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm Monday evening at the funeral home and other times at the son's home, James Parker, 146 Boone Rd., Burlington and the daughter's home, Charlotte Cole, 2571 Millbrook Dr., Haw River. Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Rd., Burlington.
