Shirley Rimmer Leigh Kersey, 71, of 840 Shaw Rd. passed away on Sunday, January 1, 2012 surrounded by her family. She was born in Person County to the late William Ed and Pearl Lily Eakes Rimmer and was married to Victor Kersey who survives. She was formerly employed by Culp Weaving and was of the Baptist faith. Shirley was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She is survived by her husband, Victor Kersey of the home; children, Mayford Ruby McClure of Chocowinity, Donnie McClure of Burlington, Delois John Foust of Gibsonville, Sheila Leigh Scott of Burlington; stepchildren, Chad Kersey, Belinda Kersey, both of Burlington; grandchildren, Angie McClure, Jenny McClure, both of Washington, Kimberly Williams of Burlington, Kellie McClure of Virginia Beach, Brandi McClure of Haw River, Tiffany McClure, Ashley Martin, Stephanie Martin, Brittany Martin Clay Williamson, all of Graham, Joseph Sarah Scott of San Diego, CA, Shyanne Scott of Burlington; step grandchildren, Krysta Kersey, Brandon Vestal, Austin Vestal; great grandchildren, Courtney Cutler, Michael Cutler, Emily Martin, Katlyn Martin, Carmon Terry, Jacob Williams, Christopher Williams, Gavin Smith, Trent Walker, Zayne Holt, Destini Martin Crisp, Jordyn Ousley, Justin Ousley, Brayden Martin, Jaelyn Martin Lipscomb, Mason Williamson, Lucas Scott; siblings, Bessie Dockie Parker, Myrtle Benjamin Harris, all of Cedar Grove, Marie Donnie Joe Thaxton of Roxboro, Mamie Gray of Oxford, Pearl Larry Crabtree of Roxboro, William "Bill" Rachel Rimmer, Jr. of Caswell County and Jack Bayne Pearle Rimmer of Roxboro. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Alton Rimmer and sister, Alice Rimmer. The funeral will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Matt Whitlow with burial to follow in Pine Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Wednesday evening at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home. Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care Center of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Rd., Burlington, NC 27215 or to the American Cancer Society, 4-A Oak Branch Drive, Greensboro, NC 27407.
