Shirley James

Shirley Bryan James, 81, passed away on Friday, May 1, 2015 at Alamance Regional Medical Center. She was born in Alamance County to the late Garland DeWitt Bryan and the late Ruby Brooks Bryan Sutphin and was married to the late William Thomas James. She attended Emmanuel Baptist Church. She is survived by her daughters, Joyce Marie Hargrove and James Gardner of Myrtle Beach, Lora Lee Powers of Haw River; son and daughters-in-law, John and Regina James of Julian, Candy James of Graham; special friend, John A. Baker; 7 grandchildren; 3 step grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren and sisters and brothers-in-law, Barbara and Clifton Greeson of Julian, Lynne Manson of Graham and Brenda and Doug Dodd of Julian. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, son, William T. James, Jr. and a brother, Richard C. Bryan. The funeral will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Kevin Smith with interment to follow at Gibsonville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:45-1:45 Tuesday prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at the residence.
