Shirley Thompson Jahn, 92, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at Mebane Ridge Assisted Living. She was daughter of the late Norris Elroy and Marie Tufteskog Thompson. She was the wife of 55 years to the late Darrell Jahn.
Shirley attended Grace Lutheran Church in Durham and began a personnel relationship with Jesus at age 90. She grew up on a farm and learned the meaning of hard work in her youth. She enjoyed gardening, camping in a motor home; family beach trips and taking walks. Shirley enjoyed dancing to jazz music and was an artist. She loved her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her son, Steve Jahn and wife, Dotty of Fuquay Varina, North Carolina and her daughters, Cheryl Stark and husband, Glenn of Arizona and Kathy Macy of Graham; grandchildren, Chris Jahn, Chelsea (Kevin) Cuddington, Erin Jahn, Kaitlin (Carlos) Stark-Gaxiola, Dr. Kelly (Tyler Colwell) Stark, Josh (Candace) Macy, Kailey Macy and Jacob Macy; great grandchildren, Aiden Jahn, Carson, Easton and Cooper Cuddington, Rose and Sophia Macy; her sister, Jeanne Bridges and husband, Bud of Oregon. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; her son, Dave Jahn and five siblings.
A graveside service to celebrate her life will be held at 4:00PM, Sunday, March 10, 2024 at Cobles Lutheran Church Cemetery by Pastor Ken Tilley.
Memorials may be made to the donor’s favorite charity.
