Shirley Holland

Elon– Shirley Evans Holland, 84, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 27, 2021 at UNC-Hillsborough.  A native of Person County, she was the daughter of the late Eugene and Betty Evans and was married to William “Bill” Jackson Holland who passed in 1997.

Shirley worked in the textile mills for many years and then retired from Stadler’s Ham.  She was a devoted lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Elon where she was very active in her Sunday School class. Shirley loved spending time at the beach, playing cards as well as cooking and baking for her many friends and family.  Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

Shirley is survived by her daughter; Karen Holland Durham, grandchildren; Shanda Ingle and husband Nic, Kristine “Krissy” Roberts and husband Stan, Nick Parker, Brittany Campbell, Evan Durham and wife, Brandie and Jace Durham and girlfriend, Maggie, great grandchildren; Kaitlyn Brame, Anna Claire Ingle, Brysen Campbell, Jackson Ingle, Janie Ingle, Wren Parker, Ivy Parker and Lincoln Durham, siblings; Thurma Stephenson, Jack Evans and Billy Evans as well as many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband; Bill, children; Kim Holland Parker and William Keith Holland, parents; Eugene and Betty Evans and siblings, Tom Evans, Eugene Evans, Gloria Ann Matthews, Verna Wilburn and Musette Hawkins.

A service to celebrate her life will be held at 2:00 on Thursday July 1, 2021 at First Baptist Church of Elon by Rev. David Durham with the burial to follow at Alamance Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 Wednesday June 30, 2021 at the funeral home as well as other times at the home.
