Mrs. Shirley Ann Williams Clodfelter, age 84, of Burlington, passed away on Saturday, August 3, 2019 at Alamance Regional Medical Center after a sudden illness.
Born in Catawba County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Connie Lee “Mack” Williams and the late Chloe Purser Williams and was married for over 61 years to Bobby Ray Clodfelter, who survives. Shirley graduated from University of North Carolina with a Bachelors Degree in Education and also served as President of her sorority, Alpha Delta Pi. She used her degree in education to serve as a teacher at Hillcrest Elementary for over 35 years before her retirement. She loved to educate children and teach them to read. She was a member of the Crestwood Ladies Bridge Club and loved to play cards. She was an avid reader and also enjoyed cooking and traveling. Shirley loved life, especially spending time with her beloved grandchildren and great grandchild.
Mrs. Clodfelter is survived by her husband of the home; two sons, Tim Clodfelter and his wife, Cyndy, of Winston-Salem and Brian Clodfelter and his wife, Julianne, of West End, NC; four grandchildren, Ben and his wife, Amber, Rhett, Mason and Libby Clodfelter; and a great granddaughter, Izzy.
A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, August 7, 2019 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends following the service in the chapel.
