Shirley Baity

Whitsett-Shirley Gentry Baity, age 68 went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at her home. She was the wife of the late Lynn Douglas "Doug" Baity. Shirley retired from Gilbarco and was of the Baptist faith. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and God mother. She is survived by her son, Monty Joseph "Joe" Melton and wife, Debbie of McLeansville; granddaughter, Alexis Nicole Melton of McLeansville; sisters, Delma Roberts of Gibsonville, Joyce Whitt of Burlington and Frances "Fran" Beal; godson, Noah Overman of the home and a special nephew, Richard Lynn Roberts. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, Joseph Felbert Gentry and Myrtle Alene Smith Gentry; sisters, Grace Overman and Jane Matherly and her special friend, Don Martin. A service to celebrate her life will be held on Friday, November 13, 2015 at 1:00 pm at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Bill Skenes and the burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 11:45-12:45 pm at the funeral home prior to the service and other times at the home.
