Shelby Michaels

Burlington - Shelby Jean Long Michaels, 72, passed away Saturday, March 3, 2018 at the Hospice Home surrounded by her family. She was born on December 6, 1945 in Alamance County to the late John Thomas Long and Lucy Virginia King Terrell and she was married to the late Alfred Colon Michaels who died in 2016.

Shelby formerly worked in textiles. She enjoyed sewing, cooking and working with her flowers.

She is survived by her daughters, Tammy Murray and husband, Doug, Penny Simmons and significant other, Steve Ford, Amy Eastwood and significant other, Tracey Loy; grandchildren, Crystal Johnson and husband, Blake, Butch Denham and wife, Sasha, Thomas Simmons, Ashley Simmons and Bruce Webster; great granddaughters, Riley Johnson, Mia Denham and Madison Denham; step daughter, Wanda Anderson and husband, Rick; sisters, Lucy "Sissy" Long, Tina Apple and husband, Jeff; brother, Ronnie Long; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, mother, father, step father, John Terrell and brothers, Johnny King, J.D. Long and Tommy Long.

The graveside service will be held at 2:00PM Wednesday at Pine Hill Cemetery by Rev. Ron Moore. The family will receive friends from 12:30pm to 1:30pm Wednesday at Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory prior to the graveside service.
