Sheila Snead

Burlington – Sheila Graves Snead, 78, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 23, 2021.  She was born in Rives, Tennessee to the late William Leonard and Irma Kathleen Taylor Graves and was the wife of Larry Gene Snead for 59 years.

Faithful servant and member of Grove Park Baptist Church of Burlington for 35 years. She loved caring for the babies in the nursery, assisting with the annual fall festival and helping with Vacation Bible School along with several community impact programs.

Former member of RVBC of Edison, NJ where she and Larry lived for 13 years before moving to Burlington. Many friends from that time are still close friends today, including several who now also live in Alamance County.

During their 59 years of marriage, the relationships and friendships that have been woven together through her commitment to serving her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ have developed into the fabric of what has sustained her and Larry through several periods of health issues.  She was dedicated to the work of Meals on Wheels with over 30 years of service delivering meals and coordinating meal deliveries.
Sheila Cherished traveling and taking quick trips with friends, especially to the beach or to the mountains… and even more so if it involved her beloved Tennessee Volunteers and a ball game of any of kind.

Native of Obion County, TN where she grew up as the youngest of 9 children, often sharing memories and stories of growing up including picking cotton in the fields of West Tennessee and playing basketball throughout her school years at Kenton High School.

She is survived by her husband of the home, Larry G. Snead; her sons, Brian Snead and wife, Marci of Richfield, NC and Kevin Snead and wife, Jennie of Hoschton, GA; her daughter, Beth Godwin and husband, Jody of Elon; grandchildren, Shawn Evans, Stefanie (Roey) Haviv, Sarah (Timothy) Kromer, Lauren Godwin, Devin Snead, Will Snead and Leah Godwin; great grandchildren, Dov Haviv, Elroy Haviv, Toby Evans, and Mila Haviv and a sister, Thelma Kemp and husband, Hoyt of Rutherford, Tennessee. She was preceded in death by her parents and numerous brothers and sisters.

The funeral will be conducted at 11:00am, Thursday, October 28, at Grove Park Baptist Church by Rev. Marc Sanders with the entombment to follow at Alamance Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm on Wednesday at Grove Park Baptist Church and other times at the home.
