Burlington-Sheila Murray Carter, 81, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, February 17, 2019 at the Hospice Home. She was a native of Alamance County and the wife of 43 years to Charles Farrell Carter who survives.
Sheila was employed for several years with Pass and Seymour Electrical Company. She was a member of the Baptist Temple and also a member of the church choir. She enjoyed artwork and was devoted to her family.
Survivors include her husband, Charles F. Carter of the home; daughter, Elizabeth Cook and husband, Sammy Cook, Jr. of Graham; sons, Tony Ray Steele and wife, Cathey of Burlington and John James Strickland and wife, Yvonne of Graham, grandchildren, Christina Steele, Shalena Steele, Anthony Steele, Caryn Long, Amanda (Tripp) Ramsey, Lester Samuel Cook III, Danielle Cook, Holly Strickland, Cody Strickland and Emma Strickland; 15 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ervin Jerome and Gaynell Pruitt Murray.
A service to celebrate her life will be held on Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at 2:00PM at The Baptist Temple by Dr. Donald R. Carter and Rev. David Carter The burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:30-1:45pm prior to the service at the church.
