Sarah Carnell Pruitt

Sarah Carnell Jones Pruitt, 89, passed away on Friday, August 23, 2019 at her home surrounded by her family.  She was born on August 26, 1929 in Alamance County to the late James Layfatte Jones and Sarah Cornelia Garrison Jones and was the wife to Richard “Buddy” Hoyle Pruitt for 71 years who survives.

Carnell retired from A.O. Elementary School Cafeteria after 21 years of service.  She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church and a former member of the Women’s Society.

Survivors other than her husband, Richard “Buddy” Pruitt include her sons, Larry Pruitt and wife Doris, Randy Pruitt and wife Patty; grandsons and spouses, Rodney Pruitt, Jason and Jo Pruitt, Steven Pruitt; great grandchildren, Josiah, Eli, Emily and Delilah Pruitt; and a sister, Mary Ella Bryant.  She was preceded in death by her parents, a infant sister, Lucille Jones and a brother, James Henry Jones.

The funeral services will be held on Carnell's birthday at 2:00pm Monday, August 26, 2019 at Bethel United Methodist Church by Rev. Laura Dunlap and Rev. Johnny Pruitt with the burial to follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 4 to 6pm Sunday at Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory and other times at the home.
