Gibsonville Sarah Ruth Sawyers Durham, 89, passed away Sunday, October 20, 2013 at the Hospice Home surrounded by her family and the hospice nurses. Ruth had been in failing health for one year. She was born in Stokes County to the late Orange Sawyers and the late Elizabeth Fagg Sawyers and was married to the late Fred Lee Durham who passed away in 1990. Ruth was a homemaker and a member of Bethlehem Christian Church. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Ernestine and Donnie Chrismon of Brown Summit; son and daughter-in-law, Frankie A. and Sherry Durham of Burlington; grandchildren and spouses, Steve and Romo Chrismon, Craig and Beverly Chrismon, Todd and Michelle Chrismon, Rita and Dale Parsons and Dustin Durham; eight great grandchildren; special nieces, Deanie Lee Marco, Pat Kylander and Malinda Key; daughter-in-law, Sandra Dickey and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents; son, Jerry Lee Durham; her twin brother, one brother, five half brothers and two half sisters. The funeral service will be held at 2:00pm Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:00pm to 1:45pm prior to the service and other times the family will be at the daughters' home.
