Sara Pearl Blalock Briggs

Mrs. Sara Pearl Blalock Briggs, 93, of Burlington, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 30, 2022 surrounded by her devoted family.

Sara was born June 13, 1929 in Caswell County to Willie James Blalock and Virginia Tate Blalock.  She retired as a parts manager from Sears after 28 years of service.  A generous spirit with a heart of gold, Sara lit up any room she walked in.  She loved life and made many friends over the years, often calling them family.  She adored her daughters and grandchildren, and her husband of 75 years, John, was the apple of her eye. They grew even closer as Sara struggled with many health issues, and served as a role model for their family as to how a marriage should be.  She will be fondly remembered for her spirit and sense of humor.  In addition to her parents, Sara was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Moore, and brothers, Ben Blalock and LaVerne Blalock.

Sara is survived by her daughters, Donna Halsey and husband Lloyd, Jean Livesay and husband Keith, and Kathy Baxter and husband Steve; grandchildren, Lisa Brewer, Sunshine Wilson, Steven Martin, Chad Briggs, and Ashley Quiminer; numerous great-grandchildren; and sister, Linda Crumpton.

A celebration of Sara’s life will be held at 12 PM on Friday, January 6, 2023 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel.  The family will receive friends from 10:45 – 11:45 AM prior to the service.  Interment will follow the service at Belemont Baptist Church Cemetery.
