Sandy Greene

Mr. Sandy Greene, of Liberty, passed away on Saturday, September 5, 2015 at his home after several months of failing health. Born in Guilford County, he was the son of the late John Shelly Greene and the late Annie Coble Greene and was married for over 55 years to Mrs. Bettie Apple Greene, who survives. Sandy was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and served from 1950 to 1954 during the Korean War. He retired from Justice Drug Company in Greensboro, NC with over 36 years of service. Sandy was a member of Apple's Chapel Christian Church, a Past Master of the Masonic Tabasco Lodge #271 and Past Patron of Liberty Chapter #66 Order of the Eastern Star. His joy in life came from being a loving husband and father. He was an avid golfer who enjoyed his weekly outings and fellowship with his golfing buddies. Another of his favorite loves was his farm, where he spent time on his tractors planting and reaping the fruit of the harvest to share with his family and friends. Mr. Greene is survived by his wife of the home; his son, Kevin Greene and his wife, Myra Cox Greene, of Fuquay-Varina; and his brother, Robert Greene and his wife, June, of Charlotte. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Mack Greene. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 Monday, September 7, 2015 at Apple's Chapel Christian Church, 7345 NC Hwy 61 N., Gibsonville, NC by Rev. Ross Marion. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends and host a reception in the church fellowship hall following the committal service. In lieu of flowers and honor Sandy's generous heart, memorials may be made to the donor's favorite charity of choice or to Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro, 2500 Summit Ave., Greensboro, NC 27406.
