Elon – Sandra Faye Scott Highfill, 73, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, April 15, 2021 surrounded by her family. She was born in Durham County on November 16, 1947 to the late Willie James Scott and Juanita Burch Scott and was the wife of 18 years to the late Gary Harrison Highfill.
Sandra was a member of The Lamb’s Chapel. After retiring from Food Lion as a customer service manager, she volunteered at Alamance Regional Cancer Center for several years. She enjoyed baking, listening to gospel and classic country music and traveling with friends to the beach and mountains. She loved her pets and she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include her daughters, Sherry Shoe Ballard and husband Chris, Kimberly Guerra, Juanita Grace “Nena” Chavez and fiancé, Tony Vetsopoulos; grandchildren, Cary Chaffin, Vernon Chaffin, Bobbi-Shane Shoe, Romelia “Rome” Guerra, Salena Teal Knight and husband Drew, Mallory Chavez; six great grandchildren and a sister, Jeanette King. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents; brothers, William “Bill” Scott, C.G. Scott and sisters, Betty Lou McPherson, Ann Cheek and Gail Jordan.
A service to celebrate Sandra’s life will be held 2:00pm on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Keith Allison with the burial to follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm on Tuesday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Lambs Chapel - Haw River Campus, 415 Roxboro Rd, Haw River, NC 27258.
