Mr. Samuel Lee Whitfield, age 49, of Burlington, passed away on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at the Hospice Home of Alamance-Caswell.
Born in Halifax County, NC he was the son of Bobby Ray Whitfield and Mary Jo Smith Whitfield, who both survive. He graduated Elon University with a Bachelor's Degree and was employed with Grandover Resort and Conference Center. He was a retired drummer and played with several bands, including "Slavemachine" and toured up and down the east coast. Lee enjoyed playing paintball and was always pulling pranks on his family and friends. He was of the Christian faith.
Lee was survived by his parents of Burlington; a sister, Lisa (Danny) Howard of Burlington; a brother, Mike (Jeannine) Whitfield of Hillsborough; three nieces; two nephews; two great nieces; one great nephew; and a special friend, Hannah Rivers of Archdale, NC. He was preceded in death by two nieces.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, January 12, 2019 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Dr. Dace Lewis. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday at Floral Garden Park Cemetery in High Point. The family will receive friends from 6- 8 PM Friday evening at the funeral home and other times at the parents' residence.
