Samuel Brady Hayes

Samuel Brady Hayes, beloved father, grandfather and great grandfather passed away peacefully on May 25, 2024 at the Authoracare Hospice Home in Burlington, NC at the age of 91. He lived a long and fulfilling life dedicated to his faith and family. Samuel was born on May 6, 1933 in Surry County, NC to the late James Franklin Hayes and Grace Hayes Liles. Preceding him in death were his siblings Ralph Hayes, Estelle Hill and Dorothy Thomas, and two nephews.

Samuel married Betty Jean Felts Hayes June 5, 1953. He loved her dearly and was devasted when she passed away December 20, 2014. His love for her never went away and he never understood why she went before him. He retired from Norfolk Southern Railway when he was 55. They spent all their time together. Loved going to the beach, fishing and roasting oysters. They both also loved spending time with their family.

He leaves behind 2 daughters, Jamie Sanders (Bill), Jeannine Fuquay (Thomas), grandson Will Sanders (Alexandria), 2 great grandchildren Arlo, Sedona and numerous nieces.

Our family wants to thank the staff at Authoracare Hospice Home for the wonderful care they gave to our father and us.

We would be remiss if we did not mention how much he loved his church, his pastor Josh House and his church family. He loved to talk about how good church was and what a wonderful job Josh did preaching any given Sunday. Dad loved God, Jesus and was always inviting people to join him at church.

Visitation will be at Lowe Funeral Home, 2205 S. Church Street., Burlington, NC on Wednesday, May 29, 2024 at 12:00PM with a small service to follow in their chapel at 1:00.  There will be a private burial at Alamance Memorial Park.
