Sally Mae Sheppard Conklin, 88, of Burlington, went home to be with the Lord Friday, February 22, 2013 at Alamance Regional Medical Center after a brief illness. She was born in Danville, VA to the late Henry Clay and Laura Kate Cole Sheppard. Mrs. Conklin attended Christian Life Assembly. She retired from BellSouth and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. Survivors include her daughter, Debbie Slaughter of Haw River; sons, Dennis Angie Conklin of Gibsonville, and Donnie Jo Anne Conklin of Winston-Salem; grandchildren, Brent Conklin, Chris Conklin, Chad Slaughter, Jeremy Slaughter, Jessica Qualls, Stephanie Conklin, and Donna Foltz; fifteen great grandchildren; sisters, Jeanette Henry Johnson of Burlington, Joann Herbert Cates of Hurdle Mills and a brother, John Billy Linda Sheppard of Hurdle Mills. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and siblings, Henry C., Vernell, Beatrice, Glenna, Mozelle and Maxine. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Monday at Christian Life Assembly by Rev. Bruce Ritter. Interment will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:00 1:45 PM Monday at the church prior to the service and other times at the home of Dennis Conklin, 7104 Claren Oaks Ct., Gibsonville.
