Sallie Overman

Burlington – Sallie Thompson Overman, 94, passed away on Thursday, April 25, 2019 at Alamance Healthcare Center after several years of failing health.  She was born on July 13, 1924 in Chatham County to the late Albert Lacy Thompson and Julie Ann Jobe Thompson and was married to the late Ervin Eugene Overman who died in 2001.

Sallie was a homemaker and farmed with her family.  She was part owner and operator of the Big O Jamboree in Graham and ES&L Produce Stand on N. Church Street with her husband.  Sallie was a member of Riverdale Baptist Church.  She loved tending to her flowers, and music was such a big part of Sallie’s life and brought her so much joy.

She is survived by her daughter, Edna Overman Ingle; sons, Earl (Wendy Petrilla) Overman and Lonnie Overman; granddaughter, Cristie Holland and husband, Todd; great grandson, Eli Holland; several nieces and nephews.

Sallie was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a son, Larry Overman; brothers, Frank, John, Alfred, Ben, David and Ed Thompson; and her sisters, Ruby Seldon, Roxie Jeffries, Evie Phillips and Alice Sherouse.

A graveside service will be held at 4:00pm Monday, April 29, 2019 at Mt. Hermon United Methodist Church Cemetery by Pastor Johnathan Graves.  The family will receive friends from 2:30pm to 3:30pm Monday prior to the service at Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory and other times at the home of the daughter.
