Ruth Squires

Burlington - Ruth Ector Squires, 95, passed away on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at Peak Resources. She was born in Alamance County on March 11, 1921 to the late Walter Blanchard and Annie Lee Ector and was the wife of the late William Everette Squires who passed away in 2005 after 66 years of marriage. She was a member of Long's Chapel Christian Church, the Sunshine Sunday school class and held many offices in the church including Sunday school secretary for 25 years and a life membership with the Southern Conference United Church of Christ women. She was employed for many years as a textile worker. Ruth truly enjoyed spending time with her family and was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her grandchildren, Shawn (Kelly) Baumgarner of Greensboro and Lance (Alexandrea) Squires of Okeechobee, FL ; great grandchildren, Macy Squires, Adric Baumgarner, Jareth Baumgarner; sisters, Mary Lee Smith of Charlotte, Blanche Lipscomb of Haw River and a brother, Walter B., Jr. (Betty) Ector of Burlington. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents; daughter, Glenda Faye Baumgarner; son, Larry Everette Squires; sisters, Nannie Lou Coleman, Edna Rudd; brothers, Jack, Parker and Bill Ector and son-in-law, Jerry Baumgarner.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at Long's Chapel Christian Church by Rev. R.J. Zupancich. Ms. Squires will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service at the church and the burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall and other times at Marie Riggs home.
