Ruth Tingen Rudd, 94, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 26, 2023. She was born in Alamance County on September 10, 1929 to the late Roy Lee and Eleanor Pierce Tingen. She was the wife of 63 years to the late Doctor Franklin Rudd, Jr.
Ruth was employed for many years with Smith Drapery where she helped in all aspects of the business. She was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church of Graham and member of the TJ Whitehead Sunday School Class. Ruth was active in the United Methodist Women, Ladies Circle Group and a former counselor of the UMYF group. She enjoyed collecting depression glass and snow babies. Ruth traveled many places with her husband and cooking and baking for family and friends. She enjoyed working puzzles, playing board games, card games like Rook and Canasta. She was a proud member of TOPS for over 53 years. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her especially for her warm smiles. She was proudest of being a grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother.
Ruth is survived by her daughters, Linda Rudd (Mike) Ezzell of Graham, Teresa Rudd (Alan) Stacey of Graham and Cindy Rudd Sharpe of Clearwater, Florida; her son, David Franklin Rudd (Wayne Pace) of Port Orange, Florida; grandchildren, Kimberly S. (Brian) Jones, Dina Edens High, Michael Alan (Lori) Stacey and Houston Powell Sharpe III (Michael Brown); great grandchildren, Jessalyn Chavis, Jarred (Sheena) Stacey, Devon Ashley, Cannon Stacey, Karoline Chavis, Carter Stacey, Michael Jones and Kinsley Jones; 6 great great grandchildren; her brother, Larry (Kathryn) Tingen of Graham. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sisters, Lula Mae Routh and Thelma Glosson and a brother, Robert Tingen.
A service to celebrate her life will be held at 12:00 Noon on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 at First United Methodist Church of Graham by Pastor Claire Clyburn. The burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 4-6pm on Monday, January 1, 2024 at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home.
