Gibsonville, NC Ruth Durham McIntyre, age 79, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Sunday, December 24, 2006 after a lengthy period of failing heath. A native of Caswell County, she was the daughter of the late Walter H. and Nannie Chatham Durham. She married Lawrence Alvin McIntyre on April 5, 1947and they celebrated over thirty four years together prior to his death in 1978. Ruth was a faithful and loyal member of Apples Chapel Christian Church and a member of Fire District #28 Ladies Auxiliary. For many years she was a caregiver, companion and friend to the elderly and disabled. She was employed through the N. C. Services for the Blind. Ruth worked at Altamahaw Baptist Church and Apples Chapel Christian Church Daycare Centers until her retirement. She had many stories to tell and received much pleasure from her work. Ruth will be remembered by everyone who knew her by her caring, compassionate and loving heart. She was am example of strength and generosity; thinking of others before herself. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Randy D. McIntyre and his wife, Judy of Gibsonville; daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie M. Summers and her husband, Dean of Gibsonville; grandchildren, Sheri Allred, Lori Durham and her husband, Stephen, Clint Summers, Wess McIntyre and Ashley McIntyre all of Gibsonville; great grandchildren, Bayley Durham, Austin Durham and Skylar Edwards; brother, Harrison Durham; sisters and brother-in-law, Elizabeth Lib Michael, Frances Nance and her husband, Paul and Polly Durham all of Gibsonville. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, son, Larry Lee McIntyre: parents; sister, Annie D. Lee; brothers, Elmo, Fred and Vernon Durham. The funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 27, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at Apples Chapel Christian Church by Rev. C. Allen Myers, III and burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:15 until 1:45 p.m. at the church. The family will be at the home of the daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie and Dean Summers, 6541 NC 61 North, Gibsonville, NC 27249. Memorials are requested to be made to Apples Chapel Christian Church, 7345 NC 61 North, Gibsonville, NC 27249. The family wishes to thank all of the doctors, medical professionals and Hospice of Greensboro for their excellent guidance and care throughout the illness of their mother, grandmother and sister.
