Burlington, NC Russell Quinton Stovall, 86, formerly of Melody Lane went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 5, 2005 at Alamance Regional Medical Center. He was the husband of sixty-three years to Helen Martin Stovall who survives and a native of Rockingham County, NC. Russell retired after 30 years with the US Postal Service as a letter carrier and he served in the US Army during WW II in the Pacific Theatre. He was a member of Glen Hope Baptist Church and a member of the Harper Burke Sunday School Class. Russell was an avid gardner growing vegetables for his family and friends and a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was also an avid Tarheel Basketball fan. Survivors include his wife, Helen Martin Stovall of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis and David Phillips of Graham; grandchildren, Carmen Phillips and her fiancee, Christian Cederholm and Casey Phillips and her fiancee, SSG. Rich Emmendorfer, Jody Childress and Michelle Baucom and her husband, Randy; sister, Rivers Stovall Shoffner of Burlington; brothers, Alton Stovall of Okeechobee, Florida and Edsel Stovall of Burlington. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Hubbard and Ruby Jones Stovall and a daughter, Sylvia Childress. The funeral service will be held on Monday, November 7, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Larry Redding and the burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home and other times at the home of the daughter, Phyllis Phillips, 2252 Erin Court, Graham, NC 27253.
