Rucker Samuel Turner, 92, passed away Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at the Hospice Home. He was born November 12, 1923 in Danville, VA to the late William Lee and Minnie Williams Turner. Rucker was married to Audrey Feezor Turner for sixty-five years. He served in the US Army Air Force during WWII in the South Pacific. He graduated from North Carolina State with a Bachelor of Science and worked for Western Electric and the North Carolina Department of Labor.
Rucker was very active in his church and community. He served the First Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church as a Sunday School Superintendent, Deacon, and Elder. He was a member of the Kiwanis, a volunteer at Alamance Regional Medical Center, the Red Cross and Meals on Wheels.
Rucker is survived by wife Audrey; sons, Kenneth S. Turner, Wendell (Angela) Turner and David (Nancy) Turner. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, William Lee Turner and a sister, Nancy Byrd Pritchard.
The service to celebrate his life will be held 1:00 PM Saturday at the First Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church by Rev. Bryan Crotts and Rev. Tim Robinson The family will receive friends following the service at the church and at other times at the home.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Rd., Burlington, NC 27215.
