Ruby Spoon

Mrs. Ruby Mae Johnston Spoon, 83, of 1265 Willie Spoon Lane, died Saturday, October 14, 2006 at the Hospice Home after several months of failing health. A native of Alamance County she was the daughter of the late John Albert Johnston and the late Amy Wagoner Johnston and was marred to the late William Vance Spoon, who died in 1971. She was a homemaker and was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church. Mrs. Spoon is survived by a daughter, Susan Ellen Spoon Stevens and her husband,David, of Burlington; two sons, Kenneth Lee Spoon and his wife,Sandra, of Falcon, NC and William James Jimmy Spoon of Burlington and his special friend Linda Queen of Boone; two grandchildren, Thomas A. Tommy Spoon and Ericka Smith; and a sister, Nancy Ferguson of Graham. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; three sisters; and two brothers. The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Tuesday, October 17, 2006 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Renee Burnette. The family will receive friends following the service and other times at the home of the son, Jimmy Spoon, 1261 Willie Spoon Lane, Burlington. Interment will be at Alamance Memorial Park.
