Ruby Smithey

Ruby "Debbie" Smithey of 2530 Ossipee Front Street went home to be with the Lord Saturday morning at her residence following 2 months of failing health. A native of Cumberland County she was the widow of the late Jack Smithey and the daughter of the late Earl Orlando and Willie Ann Jones Stanford. She was a retired employee of Glen Raven Mills and a member of the Altamahaw Baptist Church where she was Sunday School Teacher for 50 years and sung in the choir. Survivors include daughters, Diane Bare and Brenda Farris and her husband Paul of Ossipee and Beckie Apple of Elon. Sons, Carlton "Butch" Smithey and Buddy Smithey both of Elon. 14 Grandchildren and 22 Great Grandchildren. Sister, Edna Earle Miles May of Gibsonville. She was preceded in death by a sister Julia Hyder and a brother Jimmy Stanford. Funeral Service will be at 1:00 P. M. Tuesday October 4, 2005 at Altamahaw Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Lowe Funeral Home tonight from 6 to 8 P. M. and at other times at the home.
