Ruby Smith

Ruby Morris Smith, 99, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 15, 2020 at Trinity Elms Healthcare and Rehab in Forsyth County.  She was born in Johnston County on December 24, 1920 to the late Elmer Alonzo and Victoria Lamm Morris and was the wife of 55 years to the late William Wesley Smith.

Ruby was a member of Shallow Ford Christian Church in Elon, NC and a lifetime member of the Women’s Fellowship.  In her later years she attended Bethlehem United Methodist Church in Advance, NC.  Ruby retired from Western Electric Company after 35 years of service.  She enjoyed fishing at the beach, shopping, gardening, having breakfast with friends and going to different churches for dinner and fellowship. She also loved to entertain, bake and decorate for Christmas.

Survivors include her daughter, Gail Smith Page; grandchildren, Maria Page and Jennifer Page Cartner (Doug); great grandchildren, Zachary Cartner and Erin Cartner; sister, Connie Morris Edwards; brothers, Milford and Linwood Morris and numerous nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband, parents; son-in-law, Donnie Page; brothers, Herbert, Jesse, Leon, Vester, E.D., Layton and Jimmy Morris and sisters, Mary Overman Kimrey, Octavia Driver, Juanita Lynch and Jean Faye Thompson.

There will be a private service to celebrate Ruby’s life Saturday morning.  The service will be available to view Saturday after 1:00pm at www.lowefuneralhome.com.  There will be a graveside service held at 12:00pm Saturday, November 21, 2020 at Alamance Memorial Park by Rev. Steve Regan.  The family request that you wear your masks and social distance at the cemetery.
